The Wine

This wine is an affordable classic - the perfect example to include in a blind tasting of Sauvignon Blanc wines to show the unique New Zealand style. Sauvignon Blanc is one of those varieties that changes the wine it produces based on the characteristics of where it is grown. It is a true master of alchemy!

What is that style? Highly aromatic on the nose, delivery hints of herbs like basil and freshly cut green Bell peppers, grapefruit zest and gooseberry, if you've ever had the rare privelege of tasting such a thing. The wines are known for being crisp and mouth-watering food wines (esp fish and seafood and salads!), and this one is no exception, though I enjoy them on their own where their full personality can shine through.

The Winery

The Tiki whanau (Family) are an indigenous New Zealand wine producer committed to sustainable winegrowing and uncompromised quality. They care for their vines under the guiding Maori principles of 'Kaitiakitanga': a concept that involves guardianship, protection and preservation of the earth.

Founder Royce McKean’s family has been living and farming in New Zealand for hundreds of years.
