Solena Estate 2023 Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley
Solena Estate 2023 Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley
The Wine
This wine walks the tightrope between creamy, refreshing, and fruit-forward. It is comfortable being a solo act but easily and effortlessly hides its ego to play a supporting role with a wide variety of dishes. Opening aromas include honeysuckle blossom and crisp apples, followed by flavors of lemon zest, lychee and pear that lead into a complex mineral finish.
Pair with salads, seafood, and creamy pasta.
The Winery
Soléna is a combination of the Spanish and French words 'Solana' and 'Soleil', which also happens to be the name of their daughter. The portmanteau represents a celebration of the sun, the moon and the cycle of life.
The enterprise was launched in May of 2000 - a rather specific date, but that's what happens when two successful wine industry veterans get married in May and gift each other this 80-acre estate as a wedding present!
Soléna Estate showcases the beauty of terroir in their many site-specific wines. All Solena wines are from estate vineyards in the Yamhill-Carlton and McMinnville AVAs as well as iconic single vineyards around the Northwest. Well known for reliable, age-worthy Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Cabernet Sauvignon, their entrepreneurial spirit leads to many new varietals and experiments to keep things fresh and interesting.
