The Wine
Enantio is an ancient red grape variety grown exclusively in the Terra Dei Forti area, a beautiful region on the border of two regions in Northern Italy - the Veneto and Trentino. This is a beautiful region with lots of castles and forests nestled amidst the Alps. The wine grows on sandy soils and dates so far back that it was known to Pliny The Elder (1st Century chronicler!) but has never been planted elsewhere.
The obscure Enantio grape makes a delicious mountain red - dark in color like a Teroldego but with a more black berry fruit notes and a distinctive finish of mountain herbs.
The Winery
Siblings Cristina, Giuseppe and Roberta Fugatti created Roeno as a tribute to their father Rolando. As growers they are committed to the traditional grapes of this area: Teroldego, Marzemino, Riesling, Müller Thurgau, and the native Enantio grape, as described above.
We selected this wine because Giuseppe’s precise, respectful winemaking style has resulted in a wine of the purest varietal character, freshness, and balance. A wine that shows its best when paired with food!
