The Wine

100% organic and biodynamic Catarratto, from the estate oldest vines. After crushing and pressing, the must is fermented with native yeasts in temperature controlled stainless steel vats. Aged in concrete vats for 4 months, and for 4 months in bottle before release. Named after the winery, this was Porta del Vento first wine and it quickly put Marco on the map of artisanal winegrowers in Sicily.

Bright, supple, with a core of juicy peach and zesty Meyer lemon, framed by a savory, almost saline acidity. Perfect for all things seafood, light risottos, asian food. Try it with a eggplant Bahn Mi!

The Winery

This wine comes from Comporeale, just outside of Palermo in Sicily. The vines are about 2000 feet above sea level, planted on a sandstone ridge overlooking an wide valley opening to the northern coast of Sicily. The region is blessed with ideal growing conditions, and winemaking dates back thousands of years. The hot daytime temperatures are mitigated by the cooling influence of the Mediterranean Sea (less than 15 miles), and the Northern Mistral winds.
