Pietracupa 2021 Fiano Campania IGT
The Wine
The wine introduces itself with a robust and expansive nose, showing refined fragrances of jasmine, golden delicious apples, candied violets and a pleasant and persistent minerality. The wine shows refreshing acidity and a vein of citrus that echoes throughout the fine, long and slightly almond finish.
Pairs well with fish, seafood and grilled white meats.
Winemaker Sabino Loffredo has swiftly created a reputation within and beyond Italy for some of the most remarkable Greco and Fiano wines from Avellino in Campania.
Total production is around 1,000 cases.
The Winery
The winery Pietracupa was founded in the early ‘90s by Giuseppe Loffredo, fueled by his passion for wine. In 1999 his son, Sabino, quit his job to dedicate his life to the winery, fueled by the same passion his father had. They are located in Campania, a region that can be found on "the lower shin of Italy's boot". A warm region despite its position next ot the Mediterranean sea.
The family vineyard is in the Montefredane area, at an altitude of 1,968 feet above sea level and planted with 17 acres of Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Aglianico. The vineyard's soils are a mix clay and chalk, yielding elegant and aromatic wines. Each vine is between 10 and 30 years old with a south-eastern hillside exposure.
