Minus Tide 2021 Manchester Ridge Pinot Noir
Minus Tide 2021 Manchester Ridge Pinot Noir
The Wine
Displaying the bright, savory depth of character Mendocino Ridge fruit is known for, this floral, earthy Pinot Noir has distinct notes of dried herbs, mushroom, black cherry, graphite, and a lovely hint of sweet baking spices. Its soft tannins and beautifuly pure fruit are accompanied by mouthwatering acidity that adds to the wine's lift and length.
The team here did a great job at balancing freshness and savoriness in the fruit from the coastal, high-elevation Manchester Ridge Vineyard. Kudos!
13.5% ABV. 195 cases produced.
The Winery
Founded by Kyle Jeffrey and Brad and Miriam Jonas (see image), Minus Tide makes elegant, balanced wines that showcase the coastal and rustic vineyards of Mendocino, California. Shrouded in towering old-growth redwood trees, the winegrowing region of Mendocino County is influenced by the fog and cool air that drifts inland from the Pacific Ocean.
They choose to work with sustainable and organic vineyard partners who respect the land for today and future generations. In the cellar, they practice minimal intervention and minimal SO2 additions at bottling. They specialize in food-friendly wines you can enjoy with a wide range of foods.
Minus Tide was founded in 2017, but the dream began long before that. The Minus Tide trio met while attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, in 2007 and that's when they began talking about starting a winery together. It took some time, but in 2015 they made a single barrel of Malbec from Alder Springs - a favorite vineyard of theirs. And, as they say, the rest is history. Minus Tide can be found on the wine lists of top restaurants and prestige wine stores specializing in hand-crafted wines.
