The Wine

A blend of Vermentino and Sauvignon Blanc, the wine is a bit shy with its beautiful aromas, but on the palate it dances.

This wine was originally 100% Vermentino until 1997 when Michele included Sauvignon Blanc. He'd planted the Sauvignon Blanc in 1995 confident that Bolgheri was capable of producing greater white wines - wines that were richer, fruiter, and longer on the palate.

The strictest of care is given to the vines during the maturation of the fruit, (a luxury Michele enjoys as a small producer). Upon harvest, the juice undergoes a natural decantation of the refrigerated must, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve the wine's more ethereal aromatics. After resting on the fine lees, the wine is filtered but unfined, then bottled in Spring. The remarkable aromatic personality and the great structure are enhanced during the raising of the wine, which will be entering its peak after just a year in the bottle.

The Winery

Located in Tuscany's famed Bolgheri region, home to the Super Tuscans. Bolgheri is a quaint Itialian town found at the end of the long, straight and often-photographed road lined with perfectly-spaced Cypress trees on both sides. This is Western Tuscany, perhaps not always in view of the Mediterranean sea, but definitely influencd by its cooling breezes and salty air. The winery was started by Michele and Lucia Satta in 1983. Of their six children, two have decided to carry on the business - Giacomo (with a degree in Agriculture from Milan) and Benedetta who runs marketing communications.
