The Wine
Sure, you CAN age this wine, and if you do you'll be rewarded by something the French call "Pinoter" - roughly translating as bemcoming more like Pinot Noir. Which is no surprise, really. The Moulin-A-Vent (say moo-LAHN ah VEHN) region is in Northern Beaujolais just a few heartbeats south of Burgogne - home to the world's most famous Pinot vineyards.

Those who don't/can't age their wine will be thrilled by the wine's near-term pleasures. This 2019 vintage displays a garnet color in the glass and offers complex notes of blackberry, cassis, plum and floral aromas, like faded rose. Full-bodied and structured, with firm tannins. Good aging potential.

Made from 100% Gamay, it offers dark berry aromas (blackcurrants, blackberries) with floral scents such as peonies enhanced by a suite of baking spices. For such a youthful wine it has surprisingly fine tannins, giving it power and elegance and a satisfying, hauntingly long finish. Drink now through 2030+

The Winery
Look closely at this label and you'll see the name Georges Duboeuf - one of the largest names in Beaujolais and beyond. He has purchased 100% of this winery's production since 1976. During all this time, the winery has changed hands just once - it has been run since 1983 by Gerard Chavet, who took over after his father's passing. The wine has won so many awards, I can imagine hoard of eager bidders awaiting the end of this long-term partnership. Until then, this wine is one of the best values in Moulin-A-Vent cru Beaujolais.
