The Errasti family has been growing grapes in the Basque region for five decades that span 3+ generations.

In 1989 when the Getariako Txakolina region received D.O. status, the Errasti family changed their strategy from a grower that sells to other producers, to a hybrid model that included their own production. It's the best way to assure the quality of the end product.

Zudugarai is the oldest cellar on the Cantabrian Coast (Northernmost part of Spain just West of the Pyranees), if you fell down in their sloped vineyards you'd likely end up rolling down the hill and right into the sea.  The grape varietal here is 100% Hondurrabi Zuri (hahn-dur-rah-bee  zuhr-ree) , the grape indigenous to the region. The vineyard features primarily clay soils (known for wines of great intensity) layered with sand (adding elegance and floral notes).  The average age of the vines with the bottle your reading about (or drinking?) is 40 years old.  Sustainably farmed, aged in stainless steel tanks.

Tasting Notes: Zesty lemon and lime with green apples and a subtle herbaceousness and subtle hints that evoke a salty sea breeze (yes, a salty sea breeze!) thanks to the vineyard's proximity to the coast.  The wine finishes with a lick of crisp and refreshing acidity.

Pairing suggestions: A delightful accompaniment with salads, anchovies, tuna, Mediterranean cuisine and mild sheep's milk cheeses.
