The Wine

An intriguing blend of Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Aramon and Counoise, the final blend produced a wine of notable perfume - floral aromas, cherry, tea, fresh fruit and an alluring mouthfeel.  There's a nice spice note on the palate, with added layers of floral and wild strawberries. The wine is from a vineyard whose sandy soils produce grapes that emphasize the wine's high-toned aromatics and easy tannins.

This is the very definition of a Cheap n Cheerful wine - Whole cluster fermentation with a short maceration and six months in tank prior to bottling. Pair with cheese Souffle, quiche, hamburger, pizza, good conversation and conviviality.

The Winery

Domaine D’Ouréa is proof that the Old World wine regions are still turning out impressive new talent. Founded in 2009, the estate is in the Southern Côtes du Rhône, with one foot in the renowned commune of Vacqueyras and the other in Gigondas. Both regions lend the young winery some pedigree but also raise the bar of expectations.

The young Adrien Roustan is the talent behind this brand. His arrival injected renewed passion into the esate when he took over part of his grandfather's (Raymond Bertrand) estate after his studies, and then he soon acquired new vineyards in Vacqueyras and Gigondas.

He converted the vineyard to organic farming and named it “Domaine D’Ouréa” in 2010, invoking the name of his highest parcel in Gigondas, located at 1700 feet on the South slopes of the splendid Dentelles de Montmirail.
