Dom Ray-Jane 2023 Bandol Blanc
Dom Ray-Jane 2023 Bandol Blanc
The Wine
The wine is a blend of Clairette and Ugni Blanc (90% / 10%) planted in limestone soils some 60-80 years ago. . Aromas of citrus and minerals lead into fragrant flowers of jasmine/honeysuckle with a hint of almonds. On the palate the wine is oppulent and medium-full bodied, but then capped by a welcome acidity that keeps the wine from being cloying. 12.5% ABV
The Winery
This winery's story begins in 1288 when the Constant family was cultivating vines and began passing their craft from generation to generation. They cultivated their vines in the traditional manner of the day - plowing behind a horse, spending time in the vineyard every day and respecting the environment. Today Ray-Jane cultivates in the same way. They've been certified organic since 2009.
In more recent history - it was in 1970 that the late Raymond, who until then vinified the wines in small houses in the vineyards, decided to build a cellar in order to simplify the work and therefore be able to devote more time to each vat.
His son, Alain (photo), decided to join him after a short time as a professional plumber (which will quickly be aborted in favor of the family business). Jeanne, who soon gave her name to the estate, worked along side her son and husband. Today they are joined by sons Julien (the vigneron) and Vincent (cellar master) and together the family seeks to represent the Bandol region of which they are so proud.
