Delaunay 2023 Touraine Sauvignon Blanc
Delaunay 2023 Touraine Sauvignon Blanc
The Wine
This wine is always captivating and fresh any time of the year. It is crafted in the classic, restrained style of Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc, a style that showcases the limestone soils that shine through as a hint of chalky minerality in the finished wine. Pale in color with a greenish tinge and aromas of lime, grapefruit, and wet stones - all hinting at the seductive pleasure that awaits with the first sip.
Take that first sip and you'll find yourself going back back for another until, suddenly, the bottle is empty.
Best when served at ~50 degrees. Don't have a thermometer handy? Now worries, just pull it from the fridge about 20 minutes before you open it and it will be there! At this temperature the wine's richness shines through.
Serving suggestions - Drink now through 2027 while the wine is sill fresh and flirty. This wine rocks when paired with fish and seafood or anything featuring citrus.
The Winery
Thierry Delaunay’s 50 acres of vineyards are situated on the banks of the river Cher, about 30 miles east of Tours, in the epicenter of the Touraine region. These vineyards surround the family winery and have been cultivated by 5 generations of Delaunays. Each year, the Delaunays have pursued ever higher standards, combining the best of tradition with the latest winemaking technology.
"Le Grand Ballon" (named for the hot air ballons regularly seen over the vineyards all summer long) is Delaunay's entry-level wine, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the family vineyards and from local growers to offer exceptional value in Loire wines!
