The Wine

Aromas of black pepper, licorce and dark fruits with elegant/silky tannins on the palate. The some air, the wine brings notes of blackcurrant, violets and black pepper. It is a complex, generous wine that deserves to be decanted a half hour before serving. Drink now through 2029.

Red Blend: Mourvedre 40% / Grenache 20% / Syrah 20% / Cinsault 20%

The Winery

The 4th generation of the Lombardo family is now at the helm of this chateau. With vineyard holdings in Italy and Tunisia as well as France, they form a going concern in old world wine production. In 2008, Veronique joined her father in running the estate, and today she is firmly in control.

Lirac AOC is located in the Southern part of the Rhône valley, where it is one of the 13 crus that make up the Côte du Rhône. Just one village over from Tavel (the famed, rosé-only cru), Lirac wines are similar to but lesspricey than Châteauneuf-du-Pape, located just across the river.
