The Wine
As is typical of wines of Fleurie, this one is light-bodied and silky, with aromatics featuring the typical floral notes on top of blueberries and red fruit. Interestingly, though it would be easy to suppose Fleurie's name was derived from its typical floral aromatics, it's actually named after a Roman general, Floricum. Maybe that's more boring than the original idea, so go with that if it helps you remember what Fleurie wines are like!

From an estate vineyard with 60+ year-old vines farmed organically, fermented using native yeasts in cement tanks, then aged for a year in oak Foudres before bottling without fining or filtration. No SO2 was added, though this chemical occurs naturally in wine, and this one is a mere 22mg/Liter.

This is a Joyous wine with exuberant, expressive fruit and enough structure to improve in the bottle for years to come.

The Winery
In a nutshell - Camille Melinand (with sibling Mathieu) is a young, cult producer with a reputation for handcrafting small amounts of ultra-elegant and delicious Cru Beaujolais using natural farming and production methods. They source old-vine gamay from their biodynamic and organic estate vineyards in Fleurie and Chirouble.

For the geekier readers of this posting, you'll find it interesting to note that, of the 10 Beaujolais crus, Fleurie is roughly in the center, just below Moulin a Vent and Chenas, just above Morgon and just East of Chiroubles. It is considered by many to be the highest expression of the Gamay grape.
